Germany are small-sided football world champions 2018
GERMAN WORLD CUP SUCCESS ON POLYTAN SYNTHETIC TURF
After the national team coached by Joachim Löw went out of the FIFA World Cup in Russia as early as the group stage, German football fans finally have reason to celebrate again: Germany have become the small-sided football world champions in Lisbon. In an exciting final on 29 September, a 1-0 win against Poland was enough to put the coveted World Cup trophy into German hands on the city’s most famous square, the “Praça do Comércio”.
The final – like all the other matches – was played on a “LigaTurf Socca”, a synthetic turf from Polytan that was created specifically for the World Cup of the International Socca Federation (ISF). That gives us double cause to celebrate: firstly, the players of the small-sided game helped Germany become world champions. And, secondly, the sensational success in Portugal was achieved on a Polytan synthetic turf. We congratulate the national team and its coach Malte Froehlich on their magnificent title win and are already looking forward to further exciting games in the future.
Like the robust, easy-care LigaTurf Cross, the LigaTurf Socca synthetic turf combines smooth and textured filaments to deliver the best of both worlds. The unusual look of the 47 x 28 m large mini pitch on the “Praça do Comércio” in Lisbon came from its unique colour scheme: all smooth fibres are green, all the textured ones blue. That helped the playing surface become an unmistakeable trade mark of the Socca World Cup 2018 in Lisbon.
