Lothar-von-Kübel secondary school in Sinzheim with new PolyPlay Arena
Mini court gets break-time moving
Football, basketball and table tennis – since the playground of the Lothar-von-Kübel secondary school in Sinzheim was revamped, the students have been able to decide for themselves what sport to play during the main break, a free period or before the start of classes. The appropriate balls can be borrowed from the school foyer, while a climbing wall and a large outdoor chessboard comprising stone panels round off the options for an active break-time. The students play football and basketball in a PolyPlay Arena from Polytan that has a few special features. The mini pitch, for instance, was laid on the basement ceiling of an existing bicycle garage – completely without foundations or ground anchors, to protect the ceiling structure. What is more, with dimensions of 25 x 8 metres the multi-sports field was a specially built facility, while the strip system around it was also tailored to the needs of the school: it is divided into two sectors for football and basketball and comes with high protective netting in the area of the basketball net.
For the surface, Polytan offers the multipurpose PolyPlay Arena optionally with synthetic turf or a water-permeable synthetic surface. A 13mm-thick, brick-red PolyPlay FS soft-impact surface was chosen for the playground of the secondary school. Tested to DIN/EN1177 HIC standards, this synthetic surface protects against injury thanks to its cushioning effect, while it is also non-slip and easy to maintain. Optimum weather and rot resistance ensure a long lifespan and low maintenance costs. PolyPlay Arenas from Polytan comply with DIN EN 15312 for freely accessible multi-sport equipment. As a complete system, they are supplied from a single source – including installation and maintenance service – so they can be relied on to meet the highest requirements in terms of quality, safety and functionality.
