THE WORLD´S ELITE PLAY ON POLYTAN SYNTHETIC TURF

THE WORLD´S ELITE PLAY ON POLYTAN SYNTHETIC TURF

Successful hockey season 2018

THE WORLD´S ELITE PLAY ON POLYTAN SYNTHETIC TURF

The world’s four best national women’s hockey teams – Germany, the Netherlands, Argentina and New Zeeland – came head to head at Grünwald leisure park in July for a top-class meet. The Women’s real FOUR NATIONS CUP was also the perfect preparation for the Hockey Women´s World Cup 2018, which took place in London from 21 July to 5 August.

There is much more time between the Men’s real FOUR NATIONS CUP and the men’s Hockey World Cup: the Cup was held at the end of July at Düsseldorf Hockey Club with teams from Germany, Argentina, France and Ireland. The venue for the Men’s World Cup will be Bhubaneswar, in India. To avoid the region’s monsoon season, it will not be held until 28 November to 16 December.

The special thing about all four competition venues for us is that in Düsseldorf, London and in Bhubaneswar, hockey was or will be played on Polytan synthetic turf. In London, the Dutch played their way to the top in the final with a terrific 6:0 win against Ireland on our Poligras Platinum CoolPlus surface at the Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre. For the women’s Hockey World Cup, the artificial grass was specially renovated in advance and the border was bathed in a rich blue. For the 2015 European Hockey Championships, a Union Jack was incorporated in the border with the aid of red and white sections. In addition to our artificial grass being used on the pitch in London, we were also present as a partner of FIH with our logo, LED bands, video spots and in the exhibition space. This is the result of consistent efforts over recent years. As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of synthetic turf and sports surfaces, we have now secured a leading position in global hockey.
Since 2012, for example, we have been the "Preferred Supplier" of the FIH and have also equipped the last three Olympic Games with synthetic hockey turf. Through a new partnership with FIH (Polytan is now an FIH "Global Supplier") concluded in spring 2016, the World Cup and the Olympic Games in Tokyo will be added until at least 2020. Additional partnerships with the European Hockey Federation (EHF) and the German Hockey Association (DHB) aim to promote hockey and develop it into a popular game.
