Polytan – LigaTurf Cross GT zero at Camp de Futbol Torredembarra
Spain’s first CO2-neutral football turf
Spanish football is among the best in the world of what the sport has to offer. One of the cornerstones for the success of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, San Sebastian and all the other outstanding clubs in La Liga their consistent domestic youth development. Football academies for young talent have become a matter of course, and Camp de Futbol Torredembarra is no exception.
In August 2023, the worn-out synthetic turf in the Catalonian town was removed and replaced with our LigaTurf Cross GT zero, the first CO2-neutral football turf for professional and amateur sports. It combines environmental friendliness and sustainability with climate protection, without compromising on the durability of the pitch or its useful properties.
Our LigaTurf Cross GT zero is a compelling further development of the successful LigaTurf Cross product line, which has revolutionised synthetic football turf since its launch in 2016. It can be considered a “classic” in the Polytan portfolio. In addition to its natural grass-like appearance and perfect playing characteristics, one of the reasons for this success is its simplified maintenance.
With LigaTurf Cross GT zero, Spain’s first ever CO2-neutral football pitch has been realised at Camp de Futbol Torredembarra. It shows that environmental friendliness and top-level sport are not mutually exclusive, but can even complement each other in the ideal scenario. In any case, the surface is one of the foundations on which La Liga can ensure the best possible development of its young football talent.
