Twice as good

Situated in the province of Teruel in the autonomous region of Aragón in Spain, Alcañiz is around 100 kilometres south-east of Zaragoza and dates back over 1,300 years. Motorland Aragón is located close to the city and includes racing and karting tracks, as well as a leisure area with shops and hotels designed by acclaimed architect Norman Foster.

The Campo de Fútbol Municipal de Alcañiz is part of a complete sports complex that includes a football pitch with an athletics track, tennis and basketball courts, an outdoor pool and an ice hockey hall. There is also a bullfighting arena close by. Our partner Grama Ibérica installed our LigaTurf Cross infilled synthetic turf system at the Campo de Fútbol. We had already equipped the surrounding running track with Rekortan M in brick red a while back.

LigaTurf Cross combines the benefits of two worlds to meet the requirements of sports facility operators, players and coaches – textured and straight filaments: textured filaments are extremely hard-wearing, low-maintenance and also prevent infill loss. That saves costs at the time of purchase and also ensures that the turf can be played on for a long time. Players are not only impressed by the superb appearance of the straight filaments, but also by the natural ball rolling behaviour, which provides a very natural football playing experience. Last but not least, our LigaTurf Cross remains one of the most frequently FIFA-certified football turf systems. The pitch in Alcañiz is used by the neighbouring Concepción Gimeno Gil school and the Alcañiz CF club, which was founded in 1923 and works intensively with young talented players and whose teams play in the Regional Preferente and the Juvenil Liga Nacional, among others.

Incidentally, we now also offer the popular LigaTurf Cross in two explicitly environmentally friendly versions: LigaTurf Cross GTR combines straight filaments made from at least 20% recycled plastics with textured filaments made from 80% organic-based plastic, a by-product of sustainable agriculture. LigaTurf Cross GT zero is the first CO2-neutral football turf available for professional and amateur sports. The filaments are made from up to 70% organic fibre raw material.
