Recycled turf for top-level football at Polish football academy
Głogów (formerly known as Glogau) is located in the Polish voivodeship of Lower Silesia, astride the River Oder. The town, which for centuries was part of Prussia, was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War. Today, the reconstruction of the city centre is considered a shining example of historical restoration. This was not least made possible by the discovery of copper deposits, and subsequently, by the construction of one of Europe’s biggest copper smelters. This led to rapid population growth, placing Głogów among the ten largest cities in Lower Silesia with a population of over 60,000 today.
Football has always been a popular pursuit in the mining city with its heavy industry. Today, Chrobry Głogów Football Club plays in the first Polish league. On the club’s training ground at the Chrobry Głogów sports facility, Training Pitch No. 3 has now been renovated and fitted with our LigaTurf Cross R. The recycled turf combines the playing characteristics of natural grass with technologies that make it as robust and low-maintenance as fully textured synthetic turf. In addition, it has a mixture of straight and textured filaments, perfectly combining the benefits of both fibre types: thanks to its straight filaments, LigaTurf Cross R looks and feels like natural grass.

In Głogów, Poland, our new LigaTurf Cross R once again proves that football can be sustainable, even at the top level. It is primarily used by players from the Chrobry Głogów Football Club and students of the Football Academy. The pitch was installed by our Polish partner, Panorama Objecty Sportowe, in the autumn of 2023.
