High-performance product for Portuguese football talent
Seixal, Portugal, is located on the southern bank of the Tagus estuary, directly across from Lisbon. Not far from the city of over 150,000 people, the largest river on the Iberian Peninsula is crossed by the famous Ponte 25 de Abril – the longest suspension bridge in Europe, at 2,278 metres long. Seixal Bay is also known for its flamingos.
The Colégio Atlântico in the district of Arrentela is an international school with a focus on “Erasmus” exchange projects for teachers and students from the European Union. The Colégio is a pioneering institution that has been certified as a “Microsoft School” by the University of Cambridge for the implementation of new technologies in the classroom, as well as innovative learning environments. As a cultural school, it also promotes athletic, cultural and artistic forms of expression alongside traditional lessons.
Together with our Portuguese partner “Greenstadium”, we fitted a newly built multifunctional playing field with Polytan LigaTurf RS+ for the Colégio Atlântico Academia de Futebol (CAAF Atlântico) in the spring of 2023. Thanks to its rhombus-shaped, extra-thick fibres, the highly robust synthetic turf system provides optimum shock absorption and ideal ball rolling and bouncing characteristics. These high-performance properties are supported by the patented Polytan ENTANGLEMENT technology in the filaments: it ensures that the uniform, multidirectional surface remains permanently stable and is protected from premature wear.
All in all, LigaTurf RS+ is a tried-and-tested product with FIFA Quality Pro certifications that speak for its quality. In addition, Polytan’s CoolPlus function keeps the pitch comfortably cool on hot days: the pigments embedded in the surface of the fibres effectively and permanently reflect the infrared parts of the sun rays, which are responsible for warming.
The playing field is primarily used by CAAF Atlântico, one of numerous football academies in Seixal, from which many talented players have emerged in Portuguese football.
