FIFA qualification for GKS Wilga Garwolin
The small industrial and trading town of Garwolin near Warsaw boasts a brewing tradition dating back centuries. It also has a strong reputation for sports, with numerous clubs offering professionals and amateurs alike a wealth of opportunities for tennis, volleyball, swimming, athletics, cross-country skiing, wrestling, cycling, badminton, handball and – of course – football, which has always held the top spot.
The largest club is GKS Wilga Garwolin (Garwoliński Klub Sportowy Wilga Garwolin), which was founded in 1922 and plays its matches at the Wilgi stadium. This sporting facility has historically also accommodated athletics and other competitions, with the field even being exploited for car stunt shows.
In the summer of 2023, the club made the decision to switch from natural grass to synthetic turf, selecting none other than our LigaTurf Legend Pro. This filled synthetic turf system is a real game-changer, impressing players and facility operators alike with its improved fibre resilience on account of its special multi-shape filament cross-section. By mimicking the look and feel of natural grass, the specially developed cross-section offers a truly authentic playing experience and ball-rolling behaviour. We have repeatedly proven the high wear resistance of the filaments through rigorous laboratory tests, ensuring the surface is sustainable with its exceptional durability. Visually, the wider filament width provides good coverage and – in combination with a BiColour design – lends a fresh, natural appearance to the playing surface.
Thanks to the turf constructions adapted to the intended use and Polytan’s system structure, footballers in Garwolin always feel comfortable and safe on their FIFA-qualified turf. The established men’s team has since been complemented by a women’s team along with a football academy for youth development. Yet even with such intensive use by multiple teams, the high resilience of the synthetic turf allows it to remain steadfast against wear and tear.
