Hockey is second only to football as the most popular sport in the Nether-lands. The MHC Forescate Hockey Club in Voorschoten has around 1,250 members and has just invested in three new hockey fields with three differ-ent synthetic turf systems from Polytan. The installation took place between June and August 2016, and was Polytan’s biggest project in the Netherlands this year. An unfilled Poligras Platinum CoolPlus system with a 35 mm elastic layer was chosen for the main pitch. This premium system was also used at the Olympic Games in Rio. The version in Voorschoten has a classic green play-ing field with an olive green border. In Rio it was blue with a light green bor-der to match the colours of the Brazilian flag. The second playing field at MHC Forescate was fitted with unfilled Poligras Mega CoolPlus turf, which likewise has a 35 mm elastic layer to provide for optimal shock absorbency. In contrast, the third playing field from Polytan is a sand-filled Poligras Terra CoolPlus with an elastic base layer made of lava rock and rubber.
