Polytan, the official Global Supplier of the World Hockey Federation FIH, developed the Poligras Tokyo GT artificial turf system for the hockey facilities for the 2020 Olympic Games. The hockey pitch was installed for the first time in September 2019 on the Gerd-Wellen hockey pitch at the Crefelder Hockey und Tennis Club 1890 e. V. in Krefeld. Top-class hockey tournaments take place there regularly, including the German Field Hockey Championships FINAL FOUR and FIH PRO LEAGUE German national team home games. Club manager Robert Haake says that “Poligras Tokyo GT is currently the best hockey pitch in the world and we are very happy that it was installed for the first time in the world at our facility”. The darker pitch is not only faster than ever before, but for the first time, the artificial turf fibres consist mainly of a bio-based plastic made by Braskem, the world market leader in bio-plastics.
