In mid-July 2019 the big day finally arrived when the renovated school sports facility at Lilienthal primary school was officially opened with the third sponsored run. Completely revamped, it is suitable for many kinds of ball sport as well as athletics and gymnastics. Synthetic surfaces and turf from Polytan ensure an optimally cushioned base for the athletes.
The running track, 150 metres long and 2.50 metres wide, has two lanes and was finished with the long-lasting PolyPlay S all-round surface. This tartan topping is permeable to water, non-slip and dries quickly, allowing the easy-to-maintain outdoor sports surface to be used the whole year round, almost regardless of weather conditions. These positive product characteristics are also a feature of the 75 metre-long sprint section, which has three lanes. The southern sector inside the red running track contains a mini-pitch, while the central area has a natural turf playing field and the northern side a long-jump pit. For the mini-pitch, the choice fell on a PolyPlay Arena from Polytan with perimeter fencing in aluminium grey from SoccerGround and ball stop netting at the ends. It comes in the DFB standard size of 20 x 13 metres that was first built in 2008 as part of the “1000 mini-pitches for Germany” funding project for the next generation of pitches. As before, the surface comprises the textured LigaGrass synthetic turf system – but in this case the refined LigaGrass Pro version.
