The southern French university town of Aix-en-Provence is home to the Lycée Militaire, one of six secondary military schools in France. The school’s own sports facility, the Stade Gangloff, is directly adjacent to the boarding school grounds. In March of last year, Polytan began to completely renovate it. Since October, the facility has now housed, among other things, an athletics track, a separate sprint track and a long jump facility. In addition, the students have the opportunity to partake in team sports such as volleyball or basketball on the newly designed multisport area. Aix-en-Provence is located north of Marseille. The long history of the boarding school dates back to 1875. General de Cissey ordered the establishment of military schools during the Third Republic, including the grammar school in Aix. It was not until 1946 that the Lycée Militaire d’Aix-en-Provence, which at that time bore a different name, was located at its current location as the successor to previous military schools. Today, more than 800 boys and girls attend the school to pursue their studies.
