Many football fans will no doubt remember the DFB “1,000 mini-pitches for Germany” campaign of 2008, which saw the popular mini football pitches built across the whole nation. Following on from the fairytale summer of 2006, the campaign was part of an intensive programme to develop the talents of young footballers on a sustained basis. Polytan was responsible in its capacity as official project partner for the planning and construction of the 20 x 13 metre football pitches. This collaboration was the first chapter in an extraordinary success story which continues to this day. The latest example is a new mini-pitch – which we now call the PolyPlay Arena – in Niederrieden, where it has been incorporated into the new “Josef-Nowak-Pfarrgarten” public park. The park has been laid out as a meeting place in which children can socialise and make friends. It covers a large area of land in the village centre and boasts a Kneipp wading pool, swings and resting places as well as the PolyPlay Arena. Heilemann, a Niederrieden-based landscaping firm, built the 20 x 13 metre PolyPlay Arena with a fence surround system in December of last year.
PolyPlay S, a durable multi-purpose synthetic system, was the playing surface selected for the mini-pitch. It is a smooth, non-slip sports surface which dries quickly and has good ball bounce behaviour. The “reseda green” colour blends in harmoniously with the rural surroundings of Niederrieden.
The facility also includes ball stop netting four metres high and fixed basketball hoops.
