Poligras Platin in Saint-Germain-en-Laye
Proven synthetic hockey turf for long-standing Parisian team
The commune of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, located about 20 kilometres west of Paris, is best known to tourists for its eponymous château, the residence favoured by French kings before the court moved to Versailles. Nowadays, the Paris Saint-Germain football club (PSG) is no less famous. It is now one of the most successful football clubs in France and emerged from the suburban club Stade Saint-Germain, founded in 1904.
But Saint-Germain-en-Laye is not only famed for football; the city has produced numerous nationally and internationally successful athletes and is home to one of France’s most famous hockey clubs: the Stade Saint-Germain hockey club was founded in 1927, from which the Saint-Germain hockey club subsequently emerged in 1980. The first two men’s and women’s current SGHC teams play elite hockey in France: The men have been French champions seven times and cup winners twice. The ladies won the championship in 2006 and 2008. SGHC players are regularly called up to play in the French national teams.
This success does not come by chance – professional playing and training facilities lay the crucial foundations. The SGHC uses the facilities at the Camp des Loges, currently also used as a training ground by the Paris Saint-Germain football club and the Paris Saint-Germain Academy. The extensive sports complex also includes a hockey pitch.
Our Poligras Platinum was installed here in London Blue; this tried and tested synthetic hockey turf impressed players and coaches alike as the official surface for the hockey tournament at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. The Polytan PreciTex texturing technology used in this process guarantees permanent crimping, which ensures a multidirectional and particularly dense surface structure for the turf carpet. In turn, this is the ideal prerequisite for fast, precise play with optimal ball-rolling properties. Poligras Platinum is available to our customers in the standard pitch colours of blue, field green and olive green, but also in the iconic London Pink, Bordeaux Red and – as at Saint-Germain-en-Laye – London Blue. What’s more, we now only offer this synthetic hockey turf as Poligras Platinum GT – as part of this Green Technology version, the filaments contain at least 20% polyethylene (PE) made from sustainable raw materials and is manufactured in Germany using 100% green electricity. This results in a sustainable, attractively priced synthetic hockey turf with a reduced CO2 footprint.
