A visible symbol against discrimination
The town of Sarcelles, on the outskirts of northern Paris, is known as one of the quintessential suburbs of Paris. Sports, and promoting athletic activities, have always been a part of life in Sarcelles. It’s no coincidence that famous names from the town include many athletes, many of whom have represented France on various national teams. The town even has its own football school (EMF), which aims to make the sport accessible to all and counteract discrimination early by directly appealing to young people.
The centre of the sporting world in Sarcelles is the huge area belonging to the AAS Sarcelles Centre Sportif Nelson Mandela. The Association Amicale et Sportive de Sarcelles houses various sub-departments and a correspondingly wide range of sports. These include football, rugby, basketball, handball, tennis, boules and various athletic disciplines.
One of the many sports facilities of the Association Amicale et Sportive de Sarcelles is the Stade Nelson Mandela. In 2021, the stadium installed a LigaTurf Legend Pro pitch from Polytan – this high-performance powerhouse is practically made for flexible use in a stadium, and activities including football and field hockey. A special feature of the Stade Nelson Mandela is the 1,600 m2 training area for special training behind one of the two goals. There, young players in particular practice and develop their skills in special goalkeeping workshops.
An elastic layer on asphalt, which is exceptionally well-suited to high-performance sports, is installed beneath the synthetic turf. This combination will guarantee excellent playing properties throughout the lifespan of the turf and ensure the safety of the players.
