Štadión pod Dubňom

Slovakia
Žilina
June 2016

First opened in 1941, the “Štadión pod Dubňom” in the northern Slovakian town of Žilina is the home ground of the top-flight football club “MŠK Žilina, a.s” and is considered to be one of the finest sports facilities in the country. The Slovakian national team also plays its matches here. The stadium is classed as UEFA category 3 and has covered seating for over 11,313 spec-tators, although capacity can be increased to 15,000 if required.
Having won six league titles and made it through to the group stages of the UEFA Champions League in the 2010/11 season, MŠK Žilina has been the most successful football club in Slovakia since the turn of the millennium. As its success has grown, so the home ground has been modernised step by step: a turf heating system was installed in 2009, and the real grass pitch was replaced in the summer of 2016 with a Polytan synthetic turf system with “FIFA Quality pro” certification. The club opted for a LigaTurf RS Pro CoolPlus with a 35 mm elastic layer. A particularly high level of player com-fort is provided by the Infill Bionic Fibre, made from newly produced EPDM granules, whose natural shape ensures that one-on-ones and tackling are possible to almost the same extent as on real grass.
