Yvon-Chevalier Stadium unveils a blue makeover
Nestled halfway between La Rochelle and Bordeaux, the town of Saintes thrives on a rich sporting culture that includes handball, football, basketball, rugby, tennis and padel. The Yvon-Chevalier sports complex is home to the namesake football stadium, which also features an integrated athletics track.
In summer 2022, we were tasked with upgrading not only the entire six-lane track, but also the accompanying sprint sections and approach zones for the standard throwing and jumping events. Our product of choice was Rekortan M, combining the two popular shades of Hertha blue and Sky blue. Rekortan M is our most iconic synthetic surface and enjoys worldwide recognition as a truly outstanding competition surface. It guarantees outstanding acceleration, speed and increased elasticity, as well as exceptional shock absorption that is valued by athletes and sports physicians alike.
Rekortan M also ticks all the boxes when it comes to sustainability, since 49 per cent of its materials are recycled. This is yet another reason why it is one of the most highly certified track systems worldwide, with over 150 installations certified by World Athletics globally and counting.
The athletics facility is used by US Saintes Athlétisme, an alliance of six regional clubs known collectively as Athlé Sud 17, and Handisport Saintes.
